My name is Marika, I am a 15-year-old girl from Tallinn who is planning to go to France for my exchange year in the 2025/26 academic year. In order to introduce myself and my dream, I have created this website where you can find all the necessary information about it.
What is a exchange year anyway?
Maybe you've heard the term "exchange year" or "exchange student" somewhere, but never understood what it means? Here you'll find the answer. An exchange year is a program in which a student goes to live in another country for an academic year (usually 10 months) and starts attending a local school. During this time, the student lives in a host family. During the exchange year, there are also various trips and events for exchange students who have gathered in that country from all over the world. Each exchange student also has a supporting person in their destination country who assiststhe exchange student during the exchange year. About my exchange year
I chose ASSE Eesti MTÜ to organise my exchange year. I plan to go in the 2025/26 school year, which is the tenth grade for me. ASSE has been organizing exchange year programs for over 40 years and is engaged in its work in more than 40 countries. In Estonia, ASSE started offering exchange programs in 2015.

The cost of my cultural exchange program is 8490 euros. It also includes a language camp before the exchange year, plane tickets there and back, and insurance. However, my family cannot afford such an amount, and that is why I have started actively looking for supporters, because I think that I should have the opportunity to realize my dreams, despite the fact that my parents cannot support it financially. I am sure that thanks to my hard work, my dream will also come true, because I have always believed that it is possible to achieve anything, you just have to want it enough and work hard for it.
